What we do 2023

September 2023 School uniforms for all pupils

Our charity was able to provide all students with a school uniform through donations. This is to emphasize that all students are treated equally, even if they come from different levels of poverty. In general, they only have a few of their own clothes anyway, and uniform clothing also promotes identification with the school. This way, everyone can proudly show that they go to Dakhane Primary School and learn something there.

September 2023 – Presentation of Gargar Charity e. V. in the Blankenese Church am Markt in Hamburg

We were able to report on our work and the Gargar Charity e. V. support foundation at a church service in the Blankenese Kirche am Markt in Hamburg. We reported on our work against female genital mutilation in Kenya and the building of a school with a girls’ shelter.
The donations collected during the service were donated to our foundation. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Blankenese parish for their generous support.

February 2023, the trees planted at the inauguration have grown!

Our reforestation campaign was a success, and everything is growing beautifully!

We did it!!! The first class has started school!!! On 01/23/23, we finally started!!!

We were able to hire our first primary school teachers, and we finally started on 01/23/23! There were sooooo many children there that we couldn’t even take them all. There are now 40 children in the class.
The school is officially registered with the Nairobi County Education Office. This means that the school also participates in the government school feeding program. We will see how this works and whether there is enough food for the children. The region is very poor and has been particularly affected by drought and starvation for several years.
A tree planting campaign was also organised to mark the start of the school year, initiated by Rebuilding Pastoralist Livelihoods Kenya, a partner organisation of CBO (“Community-based Organisation” is a local association of a community that aims to promote its own development through mutual support)
There is still a lot to be done, but we have made a start!!! We are very happy. And the children who can go to school for the first time are very happy. That’s the most important thing!!!
