Who we are

Gargar Charity e.V. is a non-profit organization founded by Fatuma Nabosu and Dieter Hanke with the help of a few competent and energetic friends.

The association is a group of women and men from different professions and areas of life who work together to support girls and women in Germany and Kenya who are at risk of FGM. The main goal is to support women in their personal development and to enable them to live self-determined and responsible lives in society.

We provide role models, mentor and educate young girls in schools, colleges and universities, and advocate for the rights of girls and women, particularly in Northern Kenya. We are committed to helping girls and women grow beyond their childhood and achieve their full potential, both professionally and personally, as well as socially.

Children from the area around our school.

Whenever there is something to celebrate, we invite the residents of the surrounding villages so that everyone always knows exactly what we are doing. The trust that this has created among parents and children makes it possible to run the school and the girls’ shelter.
