Cosmopolitan writes:
Fatuma Deraso Nabosu is a dedicated activist in the fight against female genital mutilation, an issue that unfortunately still affects far too many young girls. Determined not to let another girl suffer, she founded an association and built a school. Her goal: to create resources that provide girls in her village with education and protection from FGM, child marriage and child labor. In addition to the Dakhane School, she is planning a shelter for girls at risk.
We are proud to announce that Fatuma Deraso Nabosu received the Cosmopolitan #SupportHer Award 2024 in the “Confidence” category on November 7 for her significant commitment. After an emotional speech, Ambassador Katja Burkard presented the award to the beaming winner.
Cosmopolitan – 025-01-s83With the support of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Glo.25 plus and our members’ contributions, we were able to purchase a Jiko (energy saving cooker) and 20 desks for our class 4. We were also able to purchase 20 school uniforms (10 for girls plus 10 for boys from the most vulnerable families) and a water tank, books and two solar panels for our teachers’ houses. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this noble activity.
