Our school and the neighbouring settlements will have a road connection to the nearest town of Kargi!
The district government is financing a road to the nearest town of Kargi (population 10,000).
At last, transport is no longer so difficult! A grader is used to build a road in the bushland. It clears away vegetation and stones and creates a smooth, level surface. This is the road.

08 June 2024 The construction work for our teacher's house has begun!
The building materials for the teachers' house have just arrived from the capital Nairobi. We can finally build a house for our 4 teachers. This means that they no longer have to sleep in their classrooms. As each teacher will have their own room, we can now also employ female teachers. The 'Kenyan Drylands Education Fund' (KDEF), represented by its CEO Ahmed Kura, is financing the construction of the teachers' house. He wants to support our fight for more rights for our girls, to stop FGM/C, early marriages and all kinds of gender-based violence (GBV) through more education. We are very grateful to him for this!
May 2024 Demonstration against female genital mutilation FGM in Bremen
According to the World Health Organisation, more than 200 million women and girls worldwide are affected by female genital mutilation (FGM/C). On 25 May 2024, Lundu e.V. is organising a demonstration against FGM/C and we are delighted that Fatuma Nabosu has been invited to speak. This enabled many people in Bremen to get to know our work and Gargar Charity e.V., for which we are very grateful.
May 2024 The beds for the girls' shelter have arrived!
On 9 February 2024, we received 100 beds, 100 sheets and 100 mattresses for our dormitory. All donated by the First Lady of the Marsabit district. We received the donation with great joy. Nevertheless, our girls are still unable to sleep in our dormitory as our school still has no solar panels - i.e. no light at night - and no fence. But both are absolutely necessary for safety reasons. We are looking for a way to finance this.
We have also planted a lot of trees to change the face of our school. We have gone green!
The whole village celebrates with us and sings specially composed and rehearsed songs of appreciation: The beds have arrived!
The whole village is celebrating with us! The beds have arrived!
February 2024 The school has a motto!
Our 'Dakhane Primary School' now has a motto like every school in Kenya: 'OPERATION FOR EXCELLENCE'
February 2024 Everyone now has school books
Financed by donations from our charity, all pupils in Years 2 and 3 have now received their school books.
January 2024 "Football Is Good For Community Building“
During the holidays in November/December 2023, Fatuma Nabosu organised a football tournament in Loiyangalani on behalf of Gargar-Charity e.V. A total of 24 boys‘ and girls’ teams took part. The aim was to keep the youngsters busy during the holidays and reduce the risk of girl pregnancies, drug abuse and early marriage. In addition, the peaceful coexistence of the hostile village communities in Loiyangalani was to be promoted. The tournament was a great success and we are all very happy about it.
January 2024 We offer alphabetisation courses for parents
We have also set up a school for adults where we want to teach the mothers of our pupils to read and write. We also want to introduce them to methods such as ‘Table Banking’ and ‘Marry Go Round’, with which they can take turns to save money for small investments (fertiliser, tools...). This should help the families to alleviate their poverty and open up prospects for a better life.
