26 September 2023 School uniforms for all pupils
Thanks to donations, our charity was able to provide all pupils with a school uniform. This is intended to emphasise that all pupils are treated equally, even if they come from differently poor backgrounds. Generally, they only have a few items of clothing of their own anyway. Uniform clothing also promotes identification with the school. In other words, everyone can proudly show that they go to Dakhane Primary School and learn how to read and write there.
24 September - Presentation of Gargar Charity e. V. in the Blankeneser Kirche am Markt in Hamburg
We were able to speak about our work against genital mutilation in Kenya, as well as about our support organisation Gargar Charity e. V. and the school project with a girls' shelter during a church service in the Blankenese Kirche am Markt in Hamburg.
The church service collection was donated to our organisation. We would like to thank the Blankenese parish for their generous support.
School catering since March 2023
The time has finally come, we've made it and the children are over the moon.
From March 2023, our 48 primary school children will receive breakfast and a hot lunch every day!
Those who eat regularly learn better.
On February 6, there was the international day "Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation".
On February 02, 'Plan International' organized an expert exchange on this topic with livestream.
Gargar Charity e.V., represented by Fatuma Nabosu, participates in the event with dedicated contributions.
School catering since March 2023
Finally, we have made it and the children are happy.
From March 2023, our 48 elementary school children will have breakfast and a hot lunch every day!
Those who eat regularly learn better.
The trees planted at the opening have grown!
Our reforestation campaign was successful and everything is greening very nicely!
We did it!!! The first grade is enrolled in our school!!! On 23/01/2023 we finally started!!!
We were able to recruit our first elementary school teachers, and then we finally started on 01-23-23! There were sooooo many children, we couldn't take them all. There are now 40 children in the class.
The school is officially registered with the Nairobi County Education Office. This means that the school also participates in the government school feeding program. We will see how this works and if there is enough food for the children. The region is very poor and has been particularly affected by drought and hunger for several years.
For the enrollment, a tree planting campaign was also carried out, initiated by Rebuilding Pastoralist Livelihoods Kenya, a partner organization of CBO ("community-based organization" is a local association of a community that has the goal of advancing its own development through mutual support).
There is still a lot missing, but the start is done!!! We are very happy. And the children who can go to school for the first time are very happy. That is what is most important!!!
Here we go, this way the schoolchildren celebrate!
